Productive and meaningful Therapy is influenced by a number of variables. In addition to experience, training and clinical knowledge, the most important therapy variable is the relationship between the therapist and his or her client. A strong therapeutic relationship is built on trust, respect, honesty, confidentiality, understanding and empathy. I approach each and every person from this mindset, and do so in a safe, private, comfortable and secure private office setting.
The therapeutic process begins with identifying your "presenting problem(s)", the reasons for entering therapy and the problems and goals you identify as your therapy focus. This guides therapy direction, and is unique for each person I meet with. Once problems and goals are established, and with the sharing of a person's personal journey, I non-judgmentally encourage, allow, and respectfully challenge clients to explore their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Gaining new insights, exploring previously avoided topics and associated thoughts and feelings, and generally better understanding our own "inner voices" allows adjustments and changes in our responses to them. By utilizing these new insights in a planned and gradual manner, steps can be taken to differently use already developed strengths as well as identifying and moving forward using new strengths and strategies.
This is the journey of Therapy - your journey toward goal achievement, real change and personal growth.
